Completed the first Zaha Hadid Architects project in New York

520 West 28th Street in New York is the first project of the British office in the city.
The British office Zaha Hadid Architects officially concluded its first project in New York: a residential building with all steel structure and rounded corners in glass. The building is right next to the High Line Park.

Located in the famous Chelsea neighborhood, 520 West 28th Street was named after its address. It is an 11-story structure that includes 39 residences and several luxurious amenities.
The building has the characteristic of being surrounded by metallic strings that join sinuously by the facade, and protrude from the floor plates to form balconies and terraces with rounded edges.
Large floor-to-ceiling windows curl in the corners of the apartments. In this way, the glass balustrades are mirrored.
"The facade of 520 West 28th Street draws attention to its attractive details - it was all brushed and hand-colored to resonate with the adjacent structures of High Line Park," Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) said in a statement. The office also described the building as "very, very integrated with its surroundings".
The main entrance is L-shaped and has a height of 1 ½ floors. With this was created a two-story plan throughout development, which is articulated prominently on the outside.
"These split levels are expressed within the interconnected boundaries of the handcrafted 520 West 28th steel façade. It carries the spirit of the industrial past of the Chelsea neighborhood, "ZHA said.
Adjacent to the High Line - an elevated pedestrian walkway along an old railroad stretch - 520 West 28th Street is a major neighborhood street.
"There is a powerful urban dynamic between the streets of New York and the High Line, a layered civic realm that has developed over generations and with many interactions," the company said.
Passersby can easily see the apartments and the private courtyard, formed by two walls of the building and another high wall. The outdoor area is filled with tables and chairs and a stepped design that serves as a water fountain.
The feature incorporates a glass panel that acts as a skylight for the private pool just below.

The 23-meter Olympic swimming pool is one of the many facilities available to residents. They also have an IMAX cinema and a gym.
These and other internal spaces have a futuristic appearance. The entrance has a gray wall with a texture that resembles rather extraterrestrial environments.
The ornate ceilings are painted white with detailed crests. The recessed lighting resembles a thin line of shiny string The price of the 39 apartments in the building ranges from $ 4.95 million to $ 50 million (coverage). Spanning three levels, the most expensive residence has a white internal staircase and five bedrooms. In addition to a balcony on its lower level and large private coverage.
The building was designed with several cores, offering several private lobbies with ceilings in 3.5-foot coffered ceilings and custom counters.
In the apartments, the kitchens feature white islands that ZHA designed with the Italian brand Boff. The islands allude to the flowing lines seen throughout the building.

Further details include Gaggenau Hausgeräte kitchenware and bathrooms with electrochromic glass.
An underground garage completes the structure and features automated parking with valet and storage network. A robotic system parks and reclaims residents' cars.
520 West 28th Street was designed by Hadid in collaboration with longtime business partner Patrik Schumacher, who took over as director of ZHA after the death of its founder in 2016.
Commissioned by Related Companies is the first completed project of the London architectural firm in New York City.
